The LSU Eunice softball team wrapped up the road portion of their 2014 regular season with a doubleheader sweep over San Jacinto Community College on Wednesday afternoon, taking game one 5-2 before a 13-5 victory in the second game as the Lady Bengals finish the season series with a 6-0 mark over San Jacinto.

For the second consecutive doubleheader, the Lady Bengals (54-2) saw the sophomore bats lead the way, as Carey Alexis, Brooklynn Clark, Ashley Subervielle and Emily Nolan combined for 17 total hits in the two games with 15 RBIs, five doubles, a triple and four home runs – with Alexis accounting for three two-run homers – over San Jacinto (36-20).

Freshmen pitchers Destin Vicknair and Raven Cole earned the wins as the two continue to stay in a three-way tie for the most wins in the country as both improved to 24-1 on the season.

In the opener, Alexis and Dani Cruickshank each finished with two hits, as Alexis collected two RBIs on a double and homer, while Cruickshank also added an RBI. Clark and Taylor Boulet (double) each drove in an RBI as well, while Subervielle, Vicknair, Codi Covington and Ginny Daggett each notched a hit as well.

Vicknair tossed a complete game in the circle, allowing five hits and four walks while striking out three batters along with the two runs.

LSU Eunice jumped on the board in the first inning on RBI singles from Clark and Cruickshank before adding to the lead in the third on Alexis' first two-run homer of the day and an RBI double from Boulet.

San Jacinto used a leadoff walk and an RBI single in the fourth to cut into the lead, and used a leadoff single and RBI groundout to add their second run in the seventh, but would get no closer.

The second game saw Clark finish with four hits to lead the offense, adding an RBI triple.

Alexis, Subervielle and Nolan each collect three hits, as Nolan tallied a double and homer with three RBIs, Subervielle notched two doubles and two RBIs, and Alexis added a double and two more homers to finish with six RBIs in the game.

Vicknair (double) and Cole each added a hit, while Daggett (0-3) drove in a run as well.

Cole tossed 5 2/3 innings in the win, giving up four hits, eight walks and striking out seven in addition to her four runs (three earned) allowed.

Elizabeth Delafield finished the final out of the game, while allowing four hits and a run with a strikeout.

Nolan opened the scoring in the first inning with her two-run homer to left field before Alexis added a two-run homer of her own in the second inning. Clark collected her RBI triple and Nolan drove in a run with her double later in the second inning as well.

After San Jacinto tallied a run in the bottom of the second, Cole led off the third inning with a walk and later scored on Daggett's RBI sacrifice fly to push the lead higher, while Alexis' second homer of the game – and third of the day – came in the fifth inning to tack two more runs on the board.

An RBI double and two RBI singles by San Jacinto in the bottom of the fifth inning would be the hosts' final runs, as the Lady Bengals saw Subervielle and Alexis each connect on two-run doubles in the sixth to bring the game to its final score.

LSU Eunice closes out the regular season at home Saturday afternoon against Baton Rouge Community College beginning at 12 p.m. with the second game to follow.

Sophomore Day pregame ceremonies will honor the Lady Bengals' eight sophomores – Clark, Subervielle, Alexis, Delafield, Nolan, Covington, Caitlen Blanchard and Morgan Tauzin – prior to game one.

Saturday's pregame ceremonies and doubleheader can be seen on Bengal All-Access.
