Baseball Wins Season Opener
Box Score Friday January 30th, Eunice, LA – The LSU Eunice baseball team opened its' 2015 season tonight with a 12-0 win over visiting North Lake College from Irving, TX.
Starting pitcher Mitch Sewald (W) went 5.0 innings, allowing two hits, no runs, and one base on balls. Sewald struck out seven Blazer hitters.
Reliever Zack Hamilton entered the game in the sixth inning and pitched two perfect innings of relief while striking out five.
Offensively, Madison Nickens went 2-for-3 with a single and a double.
Four different Bengal hitters drove in multiple runs. Trey Caswell plated two with a fourth inning triple, Jesse Lee hit a three-run homerun in the sixth inning, Joe Trahan had two RBI's, and Steven Sensley added two sacrifice flies.
The Bengals and Blazers with meet tomorrow Saturday January 31st at 1:00 pm for game two of their three-game series. Due to inclement weather forecast for Sunday, the third and final game of the series is set to begin 25 minutes after the completion of Saturday's originally scheduled game.
