Lady Bengals fall at Jones County
ELLISVILLE, Mississippi - LSU Eunice battled early to force a 22-22 first quarter tie but Jones County Junior College went on a 15-0 run to begin the second quarter and the Lady Bobcats to a 103-82 victory over the Lady Bengals Thursday.
The Lady Bobcats outscored the Lady Bengals 28-12 in the second period to take a 50-34 advantage into the intermission.
JCJC was up 71-58 entering the final quarter and the Lady Bobcats outscored LSU Eunice 32-25 in the game's last 10 minutes to seal the second win over the Lady Bengals this season.
JCJC (8-2) earned a 72-63 win over the Lady Bengals (3-13) on Nov. 23 in Eunice.
JCJC had five players score in double figures including Myyah West (25 points), Tatyana Lofton (21 points), Zan Ratcliffe (16 points), Kanisha Tharpe (13 points) and Wendion Bibbins (12 points).
Three-point shooting kept the Bengals in the game, as they connected on 15-of-32 shots from behind the arc.
Becca Brooks had 25 points, including eight 3-pointers. Katie Lemieux added 15 points, while Amber Richard and Abby Jolie had 11 points each.
After taking off for the holiday break, LSU-Eunice visits Mississippi Gulf Coast on Jan. 9 before returning home to face Roxbury Community College at 6 p.m. on Jan. 12.
