Lady Patriots hold off LSU Eunice

EUNICE – The Lady Bengals mounted a late fourth-quarter surge but Patrick Henry Community College held on for a 69-68 win on Saturday.

LSU Eunice earned a 81-52 win over the Lady Patriots on Friday to split with Patrick Henry for the weekend.

Trailing 50-43 as the game moved into the final period, the Lady Bengals outscored the Lady Patriots 25-19 in the last 10 minutes but could not earn the win.

LSU Eunice's Becca Brooks hit two three-pointers to finish with 12 points on the night, while Katie Lemieux added four more points to lead all scorers with 24 points.

Madelyn LeJeune scored six of her 10 points in the final quarter to go with Sydney Martin's five points to keep the Lady Bengals close.

Amber Richard hit two free throws in the period to finish with nine points on the night.

Lemieux scored 10 points in the first quarter, but the Lady Patriots took a 19-14 lead in the second frame.

The two teams battled for a 9-9 tie in the second period as Patrick Henry held a 28-23 advantage at the break.

Brooks nailed a trey for the Lady Bengals, while Lemieux scored twice and Amber Richard added a bucket in the quarter.

LSU Eunice surged out of the locker room for 20 third-quarter points, but the Lady Patriots poured in 22 points for a 50-43 advantage.

Lemieux chipped in six points in the period, Richard contributed five points, Brooks added another three-pointer and Jazmyn Menina added a bucket for the Lady Bengals.

Kendra Bradley and Ebony Reynolds each scored 15 points for the Lady Patriots, while   Ruth Omalola and Laprecious England both chipped in 12 points.

LSU Eunice (3-11) entertains Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College at 4 p.m. Saturday.
