Lady Bengals storm past Coffeyville
The second-ranked LSU Eunice Lady Bengals open the four-game series against Coffeyville Community College with a 16-0 and 4-0 sweep over the Lady Ravens on Friday.
LSU Eunice (22-2) will entertain Faulker State Community College on Friday.
Destin Vicknair earned the win in the opener as she struck out seven, walked one and allowed just one hit over four innings.
Kayla Davidson finished the game as she fanned two and gave up one hit.
In the bottom of the first, Maddie Edmonston singled, stole second and scored on a Danielle Cruickshank hit to centerfield as the Lady Bengals grabbed a 1-0 lead.
LSU Eunice exploded for 13 runs in the bottom of the second to put the game away.
Carmisha Payton doubled and scored on a hit by Ginny Daggett.
Daggett scored when Edmonston flied out to left field as the Lady Bengals led 3-0.
Abigail Ohlin singled, stole second, advanced to third on a passed ball and scored on Taylor Boulet's single to left.
Boulet stole second, moved to third when Raven Cole walked and then scored when Cruickshank reached on an error.
Vicknair walked and scored when Katie Flowers reached on another CCC error.
Payton singled to center to plate Cole, while Flowers scored on Ohlin's single,
Payton crossed home plate when Edmonston reached on a two-out error.
Ohlin scored on Boulet's single, while Vicknair singled to drive in Edmonston.
Cole then doubled to left field to score Boulet as Cruickshank drove in Vicknair for a 14-0 LSUE lead.
Alli Daigle singled with two outs in the bottom of the third and scored on Jaci Lavigne's double to centerfield to push the Lady Bengals ahead, 15-0.
Kaitlyn Bertot doubled to open the bottom of the fourth and scored on Flowers' single as the Lady Bengals capped the 16-0 five-inning win.
Cruickshank went 2-for-3 with three RBI amd a run scored.
Boulet went 2-for-3 with two RBI and two runs scored.
Ohlin and Payton both went 2-for-2 with a RBI and two runs scored.
In the 4-0 win in Friday's finale, Cole went the distance with 15 strikeouts and allowed just one hit over seven innings.
Cole walked, Cruickshank singled and Thomas homered to left field in the bottom of the second inning as LSU Eunice grabbed a 3-0 lead.
The Lady Bengals added an insurance run in the bottom of the sixth when Cole walked and courtesy runner Lavigne scored on Payton's double to left field.
Cruickshank went 2-for-3 with a run scored, while Edmonston, Cole, Payton and Thomas added the other four hits.
