Lady Bengals cruise past Pearl River in 24-0 sweep

The weather was gloomy and cold, but the second-ranked Lady Bengals shone brightly as LSU Eunice cruised to a 4-0, 20-0 sweep over Pearl River Community College in the home opener on Tuesday.
The highlight of the day for LSU Eunice (7-0) was a no-hitter by pitcher Raven Cole as she struck out 13 batters with no walks in the five-inning 20-0 romp.
The Lady Bengals opened with a four-run first inning, aided when Maddie Edmonston, Taylor Boulet, Destin Vicknair all walked.
Edmonston and Bouley both scored on passed balls, while Vicknair scored on a sacrifice fly by Jessica Thomas.
Alli Daigle walked and scored on single by Ginny Daigle.
The Lady Bengals then scored eight runs in both the second and third innings to seal the win.
Taylor Bouley doubled, Vicknair singled and Daigle walked to open the second frame.
After Boulet scored, Cole hit a homer to center to plate Vicknair and Daigle for a 8-0 lead.
Thomas walked and scored on a triple by Daggett, who scored on a single by Kayla Davidson for a 10-0 lead.
Camile Quebodeaux reached on a fielder's choice and scored on a single by Vicknair.
Boulet singled and scored on a passed ball for a 12-0 advantage.
Cole opened the bottom of the third with a single, while courtesy runner Jaci Lavine scored on a home run by Thomas.
Davidson doubled to left and scored on a hit by Boulet as the Lady Bengals led, 15-0.
Quebodeaux singled and scored when Abigail Ohlin drew a bases loaded walk.
Daigle then walked to plate Boulet who reached on a single.
Thomas also walked to score Vicknair who arrived via a free base.
Davidson walked to score Daigle for a 20-0 lead.
Boulet went 3-for-4 with a RBI and four runs scored.
Vicknair went 3-for-3 with two RBI and three runs scored.
Cole went 2-for-3 with three RBI and a run scored.
Daggett went 2-for-3 with two RBI and a run scored.
Davidson went 2-for-2 with two RBI and a run scored.
Vicknair was strong in the opening 4-0 win as she struck out eight, walked five with one hit in the shutout.
LSU Eunice scored first in the bottom of the third inning when Boulet reached on an error and scored when Vicknair slammed a double off the center-field wall.
The Lady Bengals added a run in the bottom of the fourth when Edmonston singled and scored off another double by Vicknair.
LSU Eunice sealed the win in the bottom of the sixth when Boulet singled to left and Vicknair blasted a shot over the center field wall.
Boulet went 2-for-3 with two runs scored, while Vicknair went 3-for-3 with four RBI and a run scored.
It will be a busy weekend at Lady Bengal Field as LSU Eunice faces Northwest Florida in a 1 p.m. doubleheader on Friday before taking on Northwest Florida State College at 10 a.m. on Saturday.
The Lady Bengals will also face Tyler Junior College at noon on Sunday.
