TEMPLE, Texas – The top-ranked Bengals earned their 40th win of the season as LSU Eunice grabbed a 5-3, 8-6 sweep over Temple College on Saturday.
LSU Eunice (40-9) scored in the top of the first when Steven Sensley walked, advanced on a wild pitch and scored on a single to right by Will Watson.
Temple College (28-24) tied the game in the bottom of the frame as Matt Valdez reached on a fielder's choice and scored when Trey Silvers flied out to right field.
The Bengals retook the lead in the top of the second when David LaFleur was hit by a pitch and crossed home plate on a sacrifice bunt by Trenon Trosclair.
LSU Eunice a run in the top of the fourth as Madison Nickens walked and scored on Jordan Romero's double to centerfield.
Temple closed the gap to 3-2 in the bottom of the inning on a solo home run by Chase Goldwater.
