Sensley, Bengals grab two from Temple College
Box Score TEMPLE, Texas – The top-ranked Bengals earned their 40
th win of the season as LSU Eunice grabbed a 5-3, 8-6 sweep over Temple College on Saturday.
LSU Eunice (40-9) scored in the top of the first when Steven Sensley walked, advanced on a wild pitch and scored on a single to right by Will Watson.
Temple College (28-24) tied the game in the bottom of the frame as Matt Valdez reached on a fielder's choice and scored when Trey Silvers flied out to right field.
The Bengals retook the lead in the top of the second when David LaFleur was hit by a pitch and crossed home plate on a sacrifice bunt by Trenon Trosclair.
LSU Eunice a run in the top of the fourth as Madison Nickens walked and scored on Jordan Romero's double to centerfield.
Temple closed the gap to 3-2 in the bottom of the inning on a solo home run by Chase Goldwater.
The Bengals added two insurance runs in the top of the seventh as Stone singled and Sensley ripped a home run over the right field fence.
The Leopards mounted a late rally when Chase Fontana singled, Zach Silvers walked and Jake Valdez walked with two outs to load the bases.
Trey Silvers walked to plate Fontana, but Temple could not pull any closer as Zach Hamilton struck out Garret Kizer to end the game.
Mitch Sewald (11-1) earned the win as he struck out eight, walked two and allowed two earned runs on nine hits before leaving one out short of a complete game.
Sensley went 1-for-3 with a walk and two RBI and two runs scored, while Watson went 2-for-3 with a walk and a RBI.
In Saturday's finale, the Bengals rallied from a 5-2 deficit to earn a 8-6 win, sparked by Sensley's two home runs.
Sensley is now the new Bengal single season home run leader with 17, surpassing Kellen Bozeman's 2008 performance.

LSU Eunice was scheduled to close the regular season this weekend with a two-game series against Tyler Junior College (33-8) at Bengal Field. But a replacement team for the series is currently being sought.
