It was great weather for baseball Saturday and it began and ended with the Bengal faithful all smiles.

New LSU Eunice Chancellor Dr. Kimberly Russell threw out the ceremonial first pitch and then top-ranked Bengals rallied for two runs in the bottom of the sixth inning to seal a 3-2 win over North Lake.

North Lake jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the top of the second inning, begun when Anthony Oslavar singled to left and Luke Barnes walked to open the frame.

 John Cochran then singled in both base runners.

After threatening in each of the first three innings, the Bengals closed the gap to 2-1 in the bottom of the fourth inning when Michael Claverie doubled and scored on a two-out double by Trenon Trosclair.

LSU Eunice retook the lead with two runs in the bottom of the sixth, begun when Will Watson walked and scored on Claverie's double to left field.

The Bengals moved ahead 3-2 when Veillon singled and scored on a sacrifice fly by Trosclair.

Claverie went 3-for-4 with a RBI and a run scored, while Trosclair went 2-for-2 with two RBI.

Orynn Veillon went 2-for-4 with a run scored, while Nick Coomes (1-for-3, BB) and Zach LaFLeur (1-for-4) earned the other hits for the Bengals.

Clay Moffit earned the win as he pitched three innings, struck out five, walked two and did not allow a hit.

Bengals starter Braxton Smith went three innings and allowed two earned runs on three hits with two strikeouts and a walk.

Jacob Barton went two two innings as he struck out three, walked one and allowed one hit.

Nick Duthu closed the game with three strikeouts, a walk and one hit.

LSU Eunice (2-0) closes the series against North Lake (0-2) at 1 p.m. Sunday.
