Lady Bengals Improve to 4-1 at Invitational

GALVESTON, Texas – The Lady Bengals completed the Island Invitational with an 11-2, mercy-rule win over Alvin Community College.
LSU Eunice opened with a 3-0 lead in the first inning, begun when Edmonston singled and scored on a hit by Bishop.
Angelle singled and Wilson doubled to left field to drive in Angelle and Bishop for a three-run advantage.
The Lady Bengals exploded for four runs in the top of the third inning, aided when Vizinat reached on an error and Skains singled to center field.
Daigle doubled in Vizinat then Wilson's home run scored Skains and Daigle to push the Lady Bengals ahead, 7-0.
Alvin closed the gap to 7-1 in the bottom of the inning when Denise Salinas singled and scored on Mainisha Burton's double to left field.
LSU Eunice added four more runs in the top of the fourth frame to put the game away, 11-1.
Edmonston reached on a bunt to open the inning followed by a single from Angelle.
Bishop reached on an error that scored Edmonston, while Angelle touched home plate when Jordan  Hartman reached on a fielder's choice.
Bishop scored on a groundout by Skains  and Wilson's two-out single drove in Hartman.
Alvin added a run in the bottom of the fourth when Salinas was hit by a pitch and later scored on a hit by Alicia Owens, but the Lady Dolphins could not avoid the mercy-rule ending.
Hannah Vidallier earned the complete game win as she struck out two, walked two and allowed two runs on six hits.
Wison went 3-for-3 with six RBI and a run scored to lead the Lady Bengal bats, while  Angelle  and Edmonston both went 2-for-3 with two runs scored.
The Lady Bengals will participate in the Pearl River tournament Friday and Saturday with games against East Mississippi, Pearl River, Itawamba  and Baton Rouge Community College.
 

Navarro College 7, LSUE 5
Kenzie McGallion ripped a three-run, walk-off home run to lift Navarro College to a 7-5 win over LSU Eunice at Galveston College's Island Invitational Saturday.
The Lady Bengals opened the game with a three-run first inning, begun when Jaci Lavigne walked and scored on Darby Bishop's line drive double to right field.
Hope Vizinat walked and Ali Daigle singled before a double by Rebecca Skains drove in Bishop and Vininat to give the Lady Bengals a 3-0 advantage.
Navarro closed the gap to 3-1 in the bottom of the first inning when Anika Barbosa singled and scored as McGallion reached on a fielder's choice.
The Lady Bulldogs pulled closer with a run in the bottom of the third inning when Barbosa singled and scored again.
The Lady Bengals added a run in the top of the fourth inning as Edmonston reached on an error and crossed home plate on Bishop's sacrifice fly to right field to push LSU Eunice ahead, 4-2.
Navarro closed the gap to 4-3 in the bottom of the fourth when Alissa Chavez walked and scored  on Jayln Kresta's ground-out.
The Lady Bulldogs tied the game in the bottom of the fifth as Miranda Worthington reached on an error and scored when McGaillon singled up the middle.
LSU Eunice retook a 5-4 advantage in the top of the sixth inning when Jessica Thomas singled and pinch runner Olivia Gabor scored on Bishop's single to right field.
The Lady Bulldogs put themselves in scoring position in the bottom of the seventh when Worthington and Alvarado both singled to set up McGallion's  walk-off heroics.
Jordan Dougherty suffered the loss for the Lady Bengals as she allowed two earned runs on three hits, while starter Abigail Leonards struck out one, walked three and allowed three earned runs on five hits.
Bishop went 2-for-2 with three RBI and a run scored to lead LSUE, while Skains went 2-for-4 with two RBI.
Thomas went 2-for-3, Daigle went 2-for-4 , while Jeanmarie Angelle and Bobbi Smith both went 1-for-3.
 
LSUE 7, San Jacinto-North 0
The Lady Bengals continued play at the Island Invitational with a 7-0 win over San Jacinto-North.
LSU Eunice (3-1) opened with a 3-0 first inning lead, begun when Bishop doubled and Skains followed with a home run to left field.
Vizinat doubled to center and scored on another double by Angelle to push the Lady Bengals ahead, 3-0.
LSU Eunice exploded for four runs in the top of the fourth inning, sparked by a single by Edmonston who scored on a sacrifice from Bishop.
Skains hit her second home run of the game to push the Lady Bengals ahead, 5-0.
Angelle added a double to left and then Angelle ripped a home run to give LSU Eunice a 7-0 margin.
Leonards earned the win as she struck out one and allowed three hits in the shut-out win.
The Lady Bengals finished with 13 hits, led by Angelle's outing as she went 2-for-2 with a walk, three RBI and a run scored.  Vizinat went  3-for-4  and she also scored twice.
Skains went 2-fof-4 with three RBI and two runs scored, while Edmonston went 2-for-4 with a walk and a run scored. Bishop went 2-for-3 with a RBI and a run scored.
