Lady Bengals Improve to 2-0 in Miss-Lou Play

SHREVEPORT – The LSU Eunice Lady Bengals improved to 2-0 in Miss-Lou Conference play Saturday with a  67-61 win over Southern University of Shreveport.

The game was close all afternoon as LSU Eunice battled to a 17-15 first quarter lead, aided by six points from Katie Lemieux.

The Lady Bengals outscored the Lady Jaguars 15-14 in the second period as LSU Eunice held a 32-29 advantage at intermission.

Amber Richard pushed in eight points in the quarter for the Lady Bengals, while Lemieux added five points.

LSU Eunice outscored Southern 20-18 in the third period, sparked by eight points from Lemieux and Becca Brooks.

The Lady Bengals held a 52-47 margin heading into the fourth quarter and then sealed the win with a 15-14 final period.

Lemieux added four more points to finish with 23 points, while Richard added three points to finish with 16 points.

Brooks hit two free throws in the quarter to close with 15 points.

Morgan Eddleman scored three of her six points in the final period, while Macy Hoffpauir added a bucket to finish with five points.

LSU Eunice travels to Delgado Community College at 6 p.m. on Wednesday.
