Bengals Complete Sweep Over North Lake

LSU Eunice completed a three-game sweep over North Lake as the Bengals earned a 15-8 win on Sunday.

Hayden Marze earned the win as he struck out six, walked two and did not allow a hit in four shut-out innings.

The Bengals jumped out to an early lead in the bottom of the second inning, begun when Mark Fontenot and Michael Claverie singled and scored on Trenon Trosclair's bunt single and a North Lake throwing error.

Trosclair stole third and scored on a passed ball as the Bengals pushed ahead, 3-0.

LSU Eunice added a run in the bottom of the fourth when Hayden Mixon singled and scored on a hit to left by Hunter Feduccia.

The Bengals later exploded for seven runs in the bottom of the fifth inning to increase their lead to 11-0.

Will Watson and Nick Coomes began the inning with back-to-back walks off reliever Zach Svensson.

Watson stole third and advanced on a wild throw, while Fontenot singled in Coomes to push LSU Eunice ahead, 6-0.

Mixon  and Feduccia  were both hit by pitches and Trosclair earned a walk to plate Mixon, while Bourque was hit by a pitch to score Fontenot.

The lead was extended to 10 runs when Zach LaFleur doubled in Feduccia and Trosclair off North Lake pitcher Alex Rivera.

Pinch hitter Gavin Bourgeois was hit by a pitch and then Bourque scored on a wild pitch to push the Bengals ahead, 11-0.

North Lake did not walk away quietly as the Blazers answered with six runs in the top of the sixth inning to close the gap to 11-7.

Zach Pavelock singled, Dominic Anagnos was hit by a pitch and Oslavar reached on a walk by reliever Brian Metoyer.

Cochran singled in Pavelock, while Greco walked off pitcher Nathan Lee to score Anagnos.

Tyler Boyd reached on a fielder's choice that allowed Oslavar and Cochran to score.

Bowie Farris then singled in Greco to close the gap to 11-5.

Johnson grounded out to third, but that scored Boyd as the Blazers fought to keep in the game.

Jake Patterson reached on a fielder's choice but was later caught stealing to end the inning.


The Bengals added two more runs in the bottom of the sixth when Nick  Schexnaider and Trosclair both walked and scored when LaFleur doubled to left field.

North Lake responded with two runs in the top of the seventh, aided when Anagnos singled, Oslavar reached on a fielder's choice and Cochran singled to load the bases.

Greco walked to plate Anagnos, while Farris singled in Oslavar as the Blazers closed the margin to 13-8.

The Bengals sealed the win with a run in both the seventh and eighth innings.

Coomes tripled and scored on a wild pitch in the seventh inning.

 Trosclair singled, stole second, advanced on a wild throw and scored on a single to left by LaFLeur.

LaFleur went 3-for-5 with a walk and five RBI to lead the Bengal hitters, while Trosclair went 2-for-3 with two walks, three RBI and four runs scored.

Fontenot went 2-for-2 with a walk, a RBI and two runs scored.

LSU Eunice  (3-0) opens a three-game series against Brookhaven College at 6 p.m. Friday.
