Bengals Grab 3-0 Win To Sweep St. Charles
Box Score After the two teams combined for 34 runs on Saturday, the LSU Eunice Bengals earned a 3-0 win over St. Charles Community College on Sunday to complete the three-game sweep over the Cougars.
After three scoreless innings, the Bengals (9-0) finally pushed a run across in the bottom of the fourth as Michael Claverie reached base on a missed catch, advanced on a wild pitch and scored when Hunter Feduccia reached on a fielder's choice.
LSU Eunice added two insurance runs in the bottom of the seventh, begun when Trenon Trosclair bunted his way on base, stole second and later scored when Will Watson reached on a fielder's choice sacrifice bunt.
Zach LaFluer was hit by a pitch and scored after stealing third and advancing home on a throwing error to push the Bengals ahead, 3-0.
Hayden Marze improved to 3-0 on the season with the win as he struck out 10, walked three and scattered two hits over five innings on the mound.
Nick Duthu struck out two and Jacob Barton earned his second save as he fanned two and walked one.
The Bengals combined for seven hits, led by LaFleur (2-for-3, run scored), Trosclair (2-for-3, BB, run scored) Orynn Veillon (2-for-2, 2 BB) and Watson (1-for-2, RBI).
LSU Eunice travels to Wharton, Texas on Tuesday for a 2 p.m. doubleheader against Wharton Junior College and Coastal Bend College.
