Lady Bengals Battle For 4-3 Win Over PSC

GULF SHORES, Alabama – The 10thranked LSU Eunice Lady Bengals scored two runs in the bottom of the fifth inning to grab a 4-3 win over Pensacola State College in the opener of the Sun Chief Classic.
LSU Eunice gave up an early lead, but regrouped to seal the win as Jeanmarie Angelle walked and scored on a sacrifice fly by Rebecca Skains.
The Lady Bengals then moved ahead when Molly Wilson walked and touched home plate on Alli Daigle's single to left field.
LSU Eunice jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the bottom of the second inning, begun when Wilson walked and later scored on an illegal pitch.
Daigle singled and scored when Jessica Thomas reached on a fielder's choice for a 2-0 advantage.
PSC tied the game in the top of the third, sparked when Melissa Luis doubled and scored on a single to right field by Jenna Bobbitt.
Courtney Heinritz singled and scored on a double by Kacie Cahill to force a 2-2 tie.
The Lady Pirates (4-8) grabbed a 3-2 lead in the top of the fifth when Kaylen Rowell singled and scored on an Erin Dansby single.
Lady Bengal starter Jordan Dougherty struck out three and allowed three earned runs on 12 hits over 5.2 innings.
Abigail Leonards went 1.1 shut-out innings, struck out two and allowed one hit.
Daigle went 2-for-3 with a RBI and a run scored, while Thomas went 2-for-3 with a RBI.
