Lady Bengals Split Games In Classic

GULF SHORES, Ala. – LSU Eunice split its final two games of the Sun Chief Classic Saturday, earning an 8-3 win over Snead State Community College before falling 6-3 to Walters State College.
Jeanmarie Angelle homered in the first inning to give the Lady Bengals a 1-0 lead against Snead State.
LSU Eunice added two more runs in the third inning when Angelle singled and scored on a hit by Darby Bishop who later advanced home on a throwing error.
Snead State pushed across three runs in the fifth to force a tie game.
Jill Shearer homered to close the gap to 3-1, while Madison Cantrell and Mallory Walker followed with back-to-back doubles.
Cantrell scored on a ground out by Abbey Payne, while Walker scored on a single by Courtney Blevins.
The Lady Bengals quickly responded with five runs in the the sixth to retake an 8-3 advantage.
Jessica Thomas walked and Jaci Lavigne followed with a double to left field to get the rally started.
Jordan Hartman walked and Maddie Edmonston then singled in courtesy runner Mallory Perrault.
Rebecca Skains powered a home run to drive in Hartman and Edmonston as the Lady Bengals increased their margin to five runs.
Snead State threatened in the seventh when Cantrell and Blevins both singled but the Lady Bengal defense held to prevent anyone from advancing past second base.
Hannah Vidillier earned the win as she struck out one and allowed three earned runs on nine hits.
Jordan Dougherty pitched the final two outs as she allowed just one hit.
Skains finished 2-for-4 with three RBI and run scored, while Angelle went 2-for-4 with a RBI and two runs scored.
Bishop went 2-for-4 with a RBI and a run scored, as Edmonston went 1-for-4 with a RBI and a run scored.
Lavigne went 1-for-4 with a run scored and Thomas finished 1-for-3 with a walk.
In the loss to Walters State College, the Lady Senators exploded for six runs in the third inning which proved to be enough for the upset over LSU Eunice.
Katie McCann doubled and scored on an errant throw, while Summer Hayes singled and scored on Shelby Shanks' hit up the middle.
Taylor Wheeler singled and scored, while Davidson walked before Nadalynn Sauceman's home run to center gave Walters State its six-run advantage.
LSU Eunice scored three runs in the fifth but the Lady Bengals could not pull any closer.
Mary Guillory singled and scored on a throw, while Abby Mondy walked and later scored to close the gap to 6-2.
Emonston singled and scored on Skains' hit up the middle but the threat ended, as the Lady Bengals trailed by three runs.
Edmonston doubled in the seventh, but could not score as the Lady Senators held on for the win.
Abigail Leonards suffered the loss as she struck out one, walked one and allowed six earned runs on eight hits.
Jordan Dougherty pitched the final four innings as she struck out three, walked one and scattered one hit.
Edmonston went 3-for-4 with a run scored, while Bishop (1-for-4), Skains (1-for-2) and Guillory (1-for-2, run scored) added hits for the Lady Bengals.
LSU Eunice entertains Pearl River Community College in 1 p.m. doubleheader Tuesday.
