Lady Bengals Fall At Southern-Shreveport

SHREVEPORT – Southern University at Shreveport slammed the door on any hopes that LSU Eunice had for the Region 23 tournament as the Lady Jaguars rallied for an 83-74 Miss-Lou Conference win over the Lady Bengals on Saturday.
The Lady Bengals (8-19, 4-4) jumped out to a 23-14 first quarter advantage, sparked by six points from Macy Hoffpauir.
LSU Eunice continued to control the game at halftime, in spite of a 21-19 battle won by the Lady Jags in the second period.
Hoffpauir added eight points in the second quarter, while Becca Brooks and Amber Richard chipped in three-pointers as the Lady Bengals led 42-35 at the break.
Southern's comeback began the third quarter as the Lady Jags went on a 27-12 run, aided by 13 points from Jada Taylor, who had only eight points in the first half.
Brooks led LSU Eunice with five points in the third period, while Richard and Morgan Eddleman added buckets for the Lady Bengals.
SUSLA sealed the win with a 21-20 battle in the fourth quarter, with six points by Atrice McCoy as well as five points from both Taylor and Janey Jones.
Brooks hit a trio of three-pointers to finish with 22 points, while Katie Lemieux added nine points to close with 17 points.
Hoffpauir chipped in 15 points, while Richard contributed eight points in the game.
LSU Eunice concludes the season Wednesday at Delgado Community College.
