Lady Bengals Close Season With Win Over DCC

NEW ORLEANS - The LSU Eunice Lady Bengals closed the season with a 63-54 win over Delgado Community College Wednesday night.
The Lady Bengals finished at 9-19 overall and 5-4 in Miss-Lou Conference action, winning three of their last four games.
LSU Eunice sophomore Katie Lemieux had eight steals against the Lady Dolphins to set a Lady Bengal record of 217 steals in her career. Lemieux had 90 steals last season and topped the charts with 127 steals this season.
Michelle Yawn had held the record with 214 steals in her career from 2005-07.
LSU Eunice and Delgado battled to a 14-14 first quarter tie as the Lady Bengals were led by Amber Richard's nine points.
The game remained tight in the second period as LSU Eunice took a 31-30 advantage into the locker room.
Richard and Lemieux both scored six points in the quarter as the Lady Bengals outscored Delgado, 17-16 in the period.
LSU Eunice opened the second half with a 16-11 run, sparked by six points each from Becca Brooks and Madelyn LeJeune.
The Lady Bengals took a 47-41 lead into the fourth quarter, where LSU Eunice finished with a 16-13 surge to seal the win.
Lemieux and Brooks both scored six points in the period, while Richard added three more points for the Lady Bengals.
Richard led LSU Eunice with 21 points, including 10-for-10 at the free throw line.
Brooks finished with 15 points with five three pointers as the Lady Bengal freshman moved into third place in school history with 112 three pointers on the season.
Renotta Edwards (2005-07) holds the school record with 126 career three-pointers, followed by Amanda Romero (2004-06) who finished with 115 three pointers in her Lady Bengal career.
Lemieux chipped in 14 points, while LeJeune added 10 points and Morgan Eddleman contributed three points.
Jamsmine Mosby led the Lady Dolphins with 12 points, while Erille Stewart and Ladaisha Brown both scored 10 points for Delgado, who finished the season 6-20 overall, 2-7 in Miss-Lou play.
