LSU Eunice Cruises Past Hinds, 12-2

RAYMOND, Miss. –  After the Lady Bengals rallied to grab a 8-5 win in  Thursday's opener against Hinds Community College, LSU Eunice cruised to a 12-2 win over the Lady Eagles in  the doubleheader finale.
The Lady Bengals (20-2) exploded for seven runs in the top of the first inning and never looked back against Hinds (3-9-1).
Bobbi Smith walked and scored when Hannah Vidillier singled, while Rebecca Skains singled and touched home plate on Lady Eagle error.
Vidillier scored when Mary Guillory reached on a fielder's choice as the Lady Bengals led, 3-0.
Jordan Hartman singled and later scored on a passed ball and the inning continued when Abby Mondy (1-for-3) drove in Guillory and then scored when Olivia Garbor reached another Hinds error.
Smith singled in Gabor with two outs to push the Lady Bengals ahead, 7-0.
The Lady Bengals added run in the top of the third when Smith singled and scored on Vidillier's hit to right field.
Hinds avoided the shutout with two runs in the bottom of the fourth when Gabby Franklin singled and Meghan Duchesme hit a home run to centerfield.
With an 8-2 advantage, LSU Eunice sealed the mercy-rule win with four runs in the top of the fifth, begun when Smith hit a two-out triple to center and scored on Skains' single to right field.
Skains later scored on an errant throw, while Vidillier singled on Hartman's double to push the Lady Bengals ahead, 11-2.
Vidillier scored the Lady Bengals' final run when Hartman belted a double to centerfield and the romp was complete.
Savannah Cates earned the complete-game win as she struck out six, walked one and allowed two earned runs on three hits.
Smith went 3-for-3 with a walk, a RBI and three runs scored to lead the Lady Bengal offense, while
Vidillier finished 3-for-4 with two RBI and two runs scored.
Skains finished 3-for-4 with a RBI and two runs scored as teammate Savannah LeJeune went 2-for-3 with a walk and a run scored.
Hartman added to the Lady Bengals 14 hits on the game as she went 2-for-4 with a RBI and a run scored.
LSU Eunice continues its Mississippi trek with games against Southwest Mississippi and Northwest Mississippi on Friday before a Saturday doubleheader at Holmes Community College.
