Leonards Leads Lady Bengals To Shutout

SUMMIT, Miss. - Lady Bengal pitcher Abigail Leonards threw a complete-game two-hit shutout Friday as LSU Eunice earned a 4-0 win over Northwest Mississippi Community College.
After four scoreless innings, the Lady Bengals pushed across three runs in the bottom of the fifth begun when Bobbi Smith singled, stole second and scored when Maddie Edmonston singled to left field.
Hope Vizinat walked before Mary Guillory stole second and later scored to give the Lady Bengals a 2-0 lead.
Edmonston advanced to second, stole third and crossed home plate on Molly Wilson's sacrifice fly to right field for the third run of the inning.
LSU Eunice (21-2) added an insurance run in the bottom of the sixth when Angelle walked stole second and scored as Vizinat grounded out to short.
Smith went 2-for-3 with a run scored, while Edmonston finished 2-for-4 with a RBI and a run scored.
The Lady Bengals continue their Mississippi series against Southwest Missippi Community College today before a Saturday doubleheader at Holmes Community College.
