Bengals Blast Past Kellogg, 14-2

Top-ranked LSU Eunice opened the weekend series with Kellogg Community College with a 14-2 mercy-rule win over the Bruins Friday night at Bengal Stadium.
The Bengals (15-0) jumped out to a 5-0 lead to open the game, sparked by four hits and a Kellogg error.
Zach LaFLeur singled, stole second and advanced to third on a wild throw before scoring when Orynn Veillon singled to left field.
Will Watson walked, Veillon singled and Nick Coomes was hit by a pitch before Turner Francis blasted a grand slam over the left field wall to give the Bengals a 5-0 advantage.
LSU Eunice added two more runs in the bottom of the second, begun as LaFleur walked, advanced on a wild pitch, stole third and touched home plate on another Kellogg wild pitch.
Veillon reached on a fielder's choice, stole second and third before scoring on a wild pitch to give the Bengals a 7-0 advantage.
LSU Eunice pushed across three more runs in the bottom of the third frame, begun when Hunter Feduccia walked and scored on Trenon Trosclair's triple to right field.
Two batters later, Trosclair scored when LaFleur singled to right, while Janson Bourque walked, advanced on a stolen base and scored on a wild pitch to give LSU Eunice a  10-0 lead.
The Bengals increased their margin to 13-0 in the bottom of the fourth with four more hits, sparked when Coomes doubled and scored on Bo Myers' single to right field.
Nick Schexnaider walked, while Hayden Mixon later singled in Myers as the Bengal bats remained hot.
LaFleur singled to plate Schexnaider to push the Bengals further ahead.
The Bruins avoided the shutout with two runs in the top of the fifth, begun when Joey Nate singled and scored on Trevor Polewka's double.
Tanner Gross singled and later scored on Austin Gonser's hit to close the margin to 13-2.
The Bengals completed the romp with another run in the bottom of the sixth as Trosclair walked and scored on a sacrifice fly to center by Gavin Bourgeois.
Erin Baldwin improved his record to 5-0 as he struck out four and allowed two earned runs on six hits over five innings of work.
Evan Kissinger (2 K, I hit) and Travis Cliburn (2 K, no hits) pitched an inning each to seal the win.
LaFleur went 3-for-3 with two walks, three hits, two RBI and two runs scored to lead the Bengal hitters.
Francis went 2-for-4 with four RBI and run scored, while Coomes finished 2-for-2 with a walk and run scored.
The Bengals will face Kellogg in a Saturday doubleheader before closing the series on Sunday at 1 p.m.
