LSU Eunice Goes 6-0 On Mississippi Trip

GOODMAN, Miss. – LSU Eunice completed its six-game Mississippi trip with a 4-0, 10-1 sweep Saturday over Holmes Community College.
 In the  4-0 opener, Lady Bengal pitcher Savannah Cates threw a three-hit shutout  as she struck out one and walked four over seven innings
The Lady Bengals jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the first inning as Molly Wilson walked, stole second and then Jessica Thomas blasted a home run over the left field fence.
LSU Eunice added a run in the top of the fourth when Darby Bishop hit a solo shot over the centerfield wall to give the Lady Bengals a 3-0 advantage.
LSU Eunice pushed across an insurance run in the top of the fifth when Jaci Lavigne singled, advanced on an error and later scored on Kaitkyn Bertot's sacrifice fly.
Maddie Edmonston, Lavigne, Thomas and Bishop all went 1-for-3 for the Lady Bengals.
In Saturday's 10-1 finale, the Lady Bengals forged out to a 6-1 lead before adding four more runs in the top of the sixth to seal the mercy-rule win.
Hannah Vidillier earned the complete-game victory as she struck out six and allowed one run on five hits.
The Lady Bengals pushed ahead 2-0 in the top of the second, begun when Hope Vizinat singled and scored on
Vidillier doubled and scored from second when Abby Mondy singled and advanced to second on the throw.
LSU Eunice added two more runs in the top of the third, sparked when Jeanmarie Angelle doubled and then scored on a Holmes error.
Bishop singled and scored on Rebecca Skains double to centerfield as the Lady Bengals moved ahead, 4-0.
The Lady Bengals pushed in another run in the top of the fourth frame when Vidillier doubled and crossed home on Maddie Edmonston's hit to short.
Skains homered in the top of the fifth inning to give LSU Eunice a 6-0 advantage.
Holmes avoided the shutout when Torey Daniels reached on an error and scored on Hayden Grantham's double in the bottom of the sixth inning.
Mondy singled and two batters later, Angelle homered to give the Lady Bengals an 8-1 lead.
Skains walked and later scored on Wilson's triple to right field, who advanced home on an errant throw.
Angelle went 2-for-4 with two RBI and two runs scored, while Bishop went 2-for-4 with a run scored.
Skains finished 2-for-3 with a walk, two RBI and two runs scored, while Vidillier went 2-for-3 with two runs scored and Mondy finished 2-for-3 with a RBI and a run scored.
