Lady Bengals Cruise Past East Mississippi

POPLARVILLE, Miss. - The Lady Bengals exploded for seven runs in the top of the first inning as LSU Eunice cruised to a 12-1 mercy-rule win to open the Pearl River softball tournament Friday.
Jeanmarie Angelle and Darby Bishop walked with one out then Rebecca Skains singled to load the bases.
Hope Vizinat singled in Angelle and Hannah Vidillier doubled to left to drive in Bishop and Skains to push LSU Eunice ahead, 3-0.
Jaci Lavigne walked and Daigle reached on a fielder's choice that allowed Vizinat to score for the Lady Bengals.
Vidillier doubled and Mary Guillory walked to keep the two-out rally alive, while a double from Edmonston plated Daigle and Guillory to give LSU Eunice a 7-0 advantage.
East Mississippi scored a run in the bottom of the first when Heather Abney singled and scored on a ground out by Molly McLeod.
The Lady Bengals pushed ahead 10-1 in the top of the second inning, begun when Angelle singled and scored on a double by Skains.
Bishop singled to left and scored on a hit by Vizinat that also allowed Skains to cross home plate.
LSU Eunice sealed the win with two more runs in the top of the fifth, sparked when Angelle doubled and scored on a triple by Bishop.
The Lady Bengals forged ahead 12-1 when Bishop scored on a sacrifice fly from Skains.
Vidiller earned the win as she struck out one and allowed one earned run on two hits over three innings.
Jordan Dougherty closed the final two innings with two strikeouts and two hits but did not allow a run.
Skains went 3-for-3 with two doubles, two  RBI and two runs scored to lead the Lady Bengals.
Angelle went 2-for-3 with a walk and three runs scored, while Bishop went 2-for-3 with a walk, a RBI triple and three runs scored.
Vizinat went 2-for-3 with three RBI and a run scored, while Vidillier 2-for-3 with two RBI and a run scored.
Edmonston went 1-for-3 with a two RBI double, while Daigle finished 1-for-3 with a RBI.
