Lady Bengals Rally Past Lady Indians

POPLARVILLE, Miss  - The 10th-ranked Lady Bengals survived a threat from the  Itawamba Community College Lady  Indians  as LSU  held on for  a 6-5 victory in the Pearl River Tournament on Saturday.
ICC (1-1) scored in the bottom of the first when Alex Brown singled and courtesy runner Taylor Blevins scored on a single by Mamie Hollenhead.
The Bengals (7-2) responded with a run in the top of the second when Hope Vizinat singled and scored on a double by Hannah Vidillier.
The Lady Indians scored three runs in the bottom of the second to retake a 4-1 lead.
Maura Jane Autry  and Lane Kennedy both singled with two outs and scored on a double down the left field line by Alex Brown.
Brown scored on a double by Kaitlin Bradley as ICC seemed ready to steal an upset over the Lady Bengals.
ICC added a run in the bottom of the third inning when Addie Thompson reached on an error and scored on a ground out by Bree Thompson.
LSU Eunice closed the margin to 5-3 in the top of the fourth frame and solo home runs by Jaci Lavigne and Ali Daigle.
Jeanmarie hit a solo shot to centerfield in the top of the fifth to pull the Lady Bengals closer, 5-4.
LSU Eunice rallied for two runs in the top of the seventh to steal the win, begun when Maddie Edmonston was hit by a pitch and Angelle singled to left field.
Rebecca Skains singled with one out to drive in Edmonston, while Angelle scored on a bunt by Vizinat.
The Lady Indians threatened in the bottom of the seventh when Hollenhead reached on an error, but three strikeouts in the frame slammed the door on ICC.
Angelle went 2-for-4 with a RBI and two runs scored, while Vizinat went 3-for-4 with a RBI and a run scored.
Bishop went 3-for-4, Skains went 1-for-4 with a RBI and Lavigne went 1-for-2 with a RBI and a run scored.
Vidillier finished 1-for-4 with a RBI double, while Daigle went 1-for-2 with a walk, a RBI and run scored.
Abigail Leonards struck out six and allowed four earned runs on six hits on 3.2 innings of work.
