After pushing ahead 16-0 in the first five innings, LSU Eunice exploded for 19 runs in the bottom of the sixth as the Bengals cruised to a 35-1 win over Prairie State Friday in the first game of their three-game series.
LSU Eunice (25-0) and  Prairie State (0-7) will compete in a doubleheader Sunday beginning at noon at Bengal Stadium.
Erin Baldwin improved to 6-0 on the season with the win as he struck out three, walked one and allowed two hits over three innings.
Nathan Lee and Brian Metoyer also saw action on the mound for the Bengals, limiting Prairie State to one run on five hits.
Hayden Marze went 3-for-4 with five RBI and three runs scored, Zach LaFleur went 3-for-5 with four RBI and two runs scored and Nick Coomes finished 4-for-6 with six RBI and four runs scored.
Francis Turner went 3-for-5 with two walks, three RBI and five runs scored as team mate Mark Fontenot went 3-for-5 with two walks, three RBI and five runs scored.
Michael Claverie went 3-for-3 with three RBI and three runs scored and Hunter Feduccia went 2-for-3 with three RBI.
Hayden Mixon went 2-for-2 with two RBI and two runs scored as the Bengals finished with 29 runs, 35 hits and 34 RBI in the game.
