The LSU Eunice Bengals earned a 14-1, 19-3 sweep Sunday to complete the three-game series over Prairie State.

With the doubleheader wins, the Bengals improved to 27-0 on the season, while the Pioneers fell to 0-9.

In the opener, LSU Eunice exploded for nine runs in the bottom of the second begun with a solo home run by Mark Fontenot and a three-run blast by Trenon Trosclair.

After the Pioneers scored in the top of the third, the Bengals responded with four runs in the bottom of the frame to push ahead 13-1.

LSU Eunice closed the mercy-rule win with a run in the bottom of the fourth when Travis Cliburn reached on a fielder's choice and scored on Turner Francis' single.

Hayden Marze (4-0) earned the complete game win as he struck out seven, walked five and allowed one run on one hit.

Fontenot went 2-for-3 with two RBI, while Michael Claverie went 2-for-2 with a walk, three RBI and a run scored.

Janson Bourque also went 2-for-2 with two runs scored.

After the Pioneers scored first in Sunday's finale, the Bengals responded with six runs in the bottom of the frame, sparked by a two-RBI triple by Nick Coomes.

Prairie State closed the gap to 6-3 in the top of the second, but LSU Eunice began to put the game away with six more run in the bottom of the inning.

The Bengals exploded for seven runs on five hits in the bottom of the third, including doubles by Nick Schexnaider,  LaFleur and Hayden Mixon.

Ridge Heisler improved to 4-0 on the season as he struck out  three, walked one and allowed one earned run on four hits over four innings on the mound.

Jacob Barton pitched the fifth inning as struck out two and allowed one hit.

LaFleur led LSU Eunice as he went 2-for-2 with four RBI and three runs scored, while he had five stolen bases in three games.

Claverie and Gavin Bourgeois both went 2-for-3 with two RBI and two runs scored, while Mixon went 2-for-3 with two RBI and a run scored.

LSU Eunice  travels to Shreveport on Tuesday to face Centenary College before the Bengals entertain Olive-Harvey College in a three-game series beginning at 6 p.m. Thursday.
