The LSU Eunice Bengals cruised to a 16-1 win over Olive-Harvey College in Thursday's series opener.

The Bengals (29-0) and Purple Panthers (1-7) will begin a doubleheader at 1 p.m. Friday and conclude the series at noon on Saturday.

LSU Eunice jumped out to a 4-0 lead in the bottom of the first inning, begun when Zach LaFleur walked, stole second, advanced on a wild throw and scored on a balk.

Orynn Veillon walked and Nick Coomes hit his eighth home run of the season to push the Bengals ahead, 3-0.

Turner Francis walked, stole second and scored when Mark Fontenot doubled to right field to push the Bengals margin to four runs.

The Bengals exploded for six runs in the bottom of the second, sparked when LaFleur bunted and then scored as Will Watson ripped a triple to centerfield.

Watson scored on a wild pitch, while Coomes was hit by a pitch and later crossed home plate on Francis' single.

Fontenot singled, while Michael Claverie and Hunter reached on consecutive walks to allow Francis to score.
