Bengals Roll To Tie Win Streak Record

The top-ranked Bengals tied the school record win streak Friday night as LSU Eunice cruised to an 18-7 mercy-rule win over Eastern Oklahoma State College.
With the victory, the Bengals earned their 19th straight win to draw even with the 2006 and 2012 NJCAA Division II national champion teams.
LSU Eunice grabbed a 2-0 lead in the bottom of the first inning, begun as Orynn Veillon reached on a fielder's choice, stole second and later scored when Nick Coomes doubled to centerfield.
Coomes scored on Turner Francis' single to center to push the Bengals ahead, 2-0,
Eastern Oklahoma (10-10) rallied to take a 3-2 advantage in the top of the third as Jace Pitchford was hit by a pitch and Hunter Wilson followed with a home run over the right field wall.
The Mountaineers moved ahead Brennan Dooly walked and scored when Brett Akins singled to centerfield.
Eastern Oklahoma seemed poised to stun the Bengals as the Mountaineers scored two more runs in the top of the fourth inning to grab a 5-2 lead.
Kory Poullard was hit by a pitch and later scored on a Bengal error, while Brock Carter doubled and crossed home plate on a Tristan Clark's sacrifice fly to right field.
But the Bengals exploded for seven runs in the bottom of the frame to take a 9-5 lead over East Oklahoma.
Francis and Michael Claverie both reached on Mountaineer errors and Trenon Trosclair bunted to load the bases.
Janson Bourque walked to plate Francis, while Zach LaFleur singled in Claverie as Trosclair and Bourque both scored as Veillon singled and advanced on a throwing error.
Coomes blasted a three-run home run to complete the seven-run, three-hit, four-error inning.
LaFleur hit a solo home run in the bottom of the sixth inning to push the Bengals ahead, 10-5.
Eastern closed the gap to 10-7 with two runs in the top of the seventh, begun as Dooly singled and scored on a hit by Akins.
Hunter Uzzle doubled and scored as the Bengals turned a double-play but the Mountaineers could not get any closer than three runs.
The Bengals sealed the win with six more runs in the bottom of the seventh, begun when Francis walked, Claverie doubled and both scored when Trosclair bunted and reached first on a squeeze play.
Trosclair later scored when LaFleur successfully reached bases on another squeeze play bunt.
Watson walked and then Veillon hit a three-run home run to extend the margin to nine runs.
LSU Eunice added two more insurance runs to end the game in the bottom of the eighth when Hayden Mixon singled and Claverie hit a home run over the left field wall.
Evan Kissinger improved his record to 2-0 on the season with the win as he struck out four, walked one and allowed three runs on four hits over 3.1 innings of work as he entered the game in the third inning.
The Bengals finished with 16 hits and 16 RBI, led by Coomes (2-for-5,  4 RBI, two runs scored), LaFleur (3-for-5, 3 RBI, three runs scored), Trosclair (3-for-3, 2 RBI,  two runs scored), Veillon (2-for-5, 3 RBI and two runs scored), Claverie (2-for-5, 2 RBI and three runs scored), Bourque (1-for-3, BB, 1 RBI and a run scored) and Francis (1-for-3, BB, 1 RBI and two runs scored).
LSU Eunice will continue the series at 1 p.m. Saturday before closing against the Mountaineers at 1 p.m. Sunday.
