Lady Bengals Earn Doubleheader Sweep

BREWTON, Alabama –  LSU Eunice picked up a pair of softball wins on Wednesday as the Lady Bengals grabbed a 13-5 win over Three Rivers College before battling to a 8-5 victory over Jefferson Davis Community College.
The Lady Bengals (28-2) exploded for seven runs in the top of the fourth inning to seal the mercy-rule win over Three Rivers.
Jeanmarie Angelle and Darby Bishop both singled and scored on a Rebecca Skains single up the middle.
Bobbi Smith walked and Jessica Thomas singled in Skains for a 9-4 Lady Bengal advantage.
Vizinat drove in Smith and later scored on a passed ball, while Olivia Gabor singled and scored on Lavgine's single to second.
Maddie Edmonston drove in Lavigne to push the Lady Bengals up, 13-4.
LSU Eunice jumped out to a 2-0 lead against Three Rivers, begun as Maddie Edmonson bunted and scored on a sacrifice fly by Darby Bishop.
Skains followed with a double and then scored on a double from Smith.
Three Rivers closed the gap to 2-1 in the bottom of the inning as Katie Strain singled, stole second and scored on a wild pitch.
The Lady Bengals added a run in the top of the second when Lavigne reached on an error and scored on a passed ball to push LSU Eunice ahead, 3-1.
The Lady Raiders tied the game in the bottom of the second, but the Lady Bengals answered with three runs in the top of the third frame to retake a 6-2 advantage when Smith singled, Skains reached on an error and Jessica Thomas belted a home run over the left field fence.
Three Rivers closed the gap to 6-3 in the bottom of the third when Courtney Slayton hit a solo shot to left.
After the Lady Bengals' seven-run explosion in the fourth, Three Rivers regrouped when Stephanie Worth homered to left field.
Hannah Vidillier earned the win for LSU Eunice as she struck out one, walked one and allowed five runs on seven hits over three innings.
Jordan Dougherty closed the final two innings as she struck out one and allowed one hit.
Edmonston went 3-for-4 with a RBI and a run scored, while Skains went 2-for-4 with two RBI and three runs scored.
Bishop (2-for-3, RBI, run scored), Smith (2-for-3, BB, RBI, two runs scored), Thomas (2-for-3, 3 RBI, run scored), Vizinat (2-for-4, RBI, run scored) and Lavigne (2-for-3 two runs scored) all rapped multiple hits for the Lady Bengals.

The Lady Bengals opened with a 2-0 lead against the Lady Warhawks, begun as Edmonston doubled and stole home.
Skains walked and crossed home on Smith's double up the middle.
LSU Eunice added three runs in the top of the second, sparked when Savannah Lejeune singled and scored on Abby Mondy's double to centerfield.
Mondy scored when Edmonston reached on a bunt, who later crossed home plate on Wilson's sacrifice fly.
The Lady Warhawks closed the margin to 5-4 with four runs in the bottom of the fourth inning, begun as Moriah Brundidge and Emily Loring reached on two-out back-to-back errors and scored on Alicia Richardson's single.
Jordan Swindle then blasted a home run over the left field fence to pull Jeff Davis closer.
Bishop hit a solo home run in the top of the sixth to push the Lady Bengals ahead, 6-4.
Richardson hit a solo shot in the bottom of the sixth as the Lady Warhawks closed the gap to one run again.
LSU Eunice added two insurance runs in the top of the seventh, begun as Wilson doubled and crossed home on Bishop's single to right field.
Skains doubled and scored on a sacrifice fly by Smith.
Elizabeth Fontenot earned the win as she struck out two, walked four and allowed four runs on five hits.
Bishop went 2-for-4 with a walk, two RBI and a run scored, while Edmonston went 2-for-4 with two runs scored.
LSU Eunice will open the Northwest Florida Community College tournament at Niceville, Florida on Thursday with games against Wabash Valley College, Lansing Community College and Chipola College.
