Top-ranked LSU Eunice improved to 47-3 on the season Tuesday as the Lady Bengals grabbed a 6-5, 15-5 sweep over Grambling State University.

The Lady Bengals took a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the first inning as Maddie Edmonston walked and scored on a double by Rebecca Skains.

LSU Eunice added a run in the bottom of the third when Skains singled and later scored on a bases-loaded sacrifice by Annemarie Angelle.

Samara Perry hit a solo home run to help Grambling close the gap to 2-1 in the top of the fourth, but Angelle hit a home run in the bottom of the fifth to push the Lady Bengals ahead, 3-1.

Grambling pushed across three runs in the top of the sixth as Mercedes Williams singled, Tiffany Doss walked and Perry hit her second home run of the game as the Lady Tigers grabbed a 4-3 advantage.

The Lady Bengals responded with two runs in the bottom of the frame, begun when Hope Vizinat singled and pinch runner Olivia Gabor scored on a double by Jaci Lavigne.

Bishop later singled in Lavigne to push LSU Eunice ahead, 5-4.

Grambling tied the game in the top of the seventh as Chassity Thomas singled and scored on Caila Durgan's fielder's choice bunt.

The Lady Bengals won the game when Angelle walked and scored as Jessica Thomas singled to centerfield.

Abigail Leonards earned the complete-game win as she struck out two, walked two and allowed five earned runs on nine hits.

Skains went 2-for-3 with a walk, a RBI and a run scored;  Lavigne went 2-for-3 with a RBI and run scored, while Darby Bishop went 2-for-4 with a RBI.

The finale opened with a bang for the Lady Bengals as Edmonston  led off with a home run to left field and Skains followed with a double and scored on Molly Wilson's hit.

Grambling closed the gap to 2-1 in the top of the second as Perry doubled and scored on a hit by Chassity Thomas.

LSU Eunice then exploded for eight runs in the bottom of the third inning to put the game out of reach, begun when Edmonston walked and scored on a sacrifice by Bishop.

Skains singled and scored on a passed ball before Wilson walked, Alli Daigle singled and Angelle walked to load the bases.

Vizinat walked to plate Wilson and Kaitlyn Bertot ripped a two-out double to drive in Daigle and Angelle as the Lady Bengals led, 7-1.
Edmonston followed with a double to score Vizinat and Abby Mondy for a 9-1 advantage.

Edmonston scored on a single by Skains to give the Lady Bengals a 10-1 lead.

The Lady Bengals added five more runs in the bottom of the fourth, begun when Wilson walked and scored on Hartman's double to left field.

Mary Guillory walked and scored on Savannah Lejeune's double to right that also pushed in Hartman for a 13-1 margin.

Olivia Gabor belted a home run that also scored Lejeune as the Lady Bengals forged ahead, 15-1.

Grambling did not go away quietly as the Lady Tigers exploded for four runs in the top of the fifth inning, begun as Lisa Brooks walked, Durgan was hit by a pitch and Kendalyn Arceneaux waked to load the bases.

Hailey Haynes doubled in Brooks and Durgan, while Perry was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded that allowed Arceneaux to score to close the gap to 15-4.

Chassity Thomas singled in Haynes before Savannah Cates struck out McKenzie Johnson to end the mercy-rule contest.

Elizabeth Fontenot started for the Lady Bengals as she struck out three, walked two and allowed one earned run on three hits over four innings.

Cates pitched the fifth inning as she allowed four runs on two hits with two strikeouts and two walks.

Skains went 4-for-4 with a RBI and two runs scored, while Edmonston went 2-for-2 with a walk, three RBI and three runs scored.
