No. 1 Bengals Complete Sweep Over UT-Tyler

TYLER, Texas – The top-ranked Bengals completed a three-game sweep over the University of Texas at Tyler with a pair of 13-6, 15-4 wins Thursday.

LSU Eunice (43-3) scored in six straight innings in the opener including four runs in the sixth inning to complete the 13-6 romp.

Bengal starter Ridge Heisler improved to 4-1 on the season as he struck out three, walked one and allowed two runs on four hits over four innings of work.

Turner Francis went 4-for-5 with two RBI, two stolen bases and two runs scored to lead the Bengals, while Nick Coomes finished 3-for-4 with two doubles, a RBI and three runs scored.

Trenon Trosclair went  1-for-3 with a walk,  a RBI, three stolen bases and three runs scored.

In Thursday's finale, the Bengals  scored five runs in the third and added four more runs in both the fifth and seventh innings as LSU Eunice rolled to the 15-4, seven-inning win.

Erin Baldwin improved his record to 9-0 on the season as he struck out four, walked two and allowed one earned run on three hits over three innings pitched.

Braxton Smith struck out four in three no-hit innings, while Connor Bates pitched the seventh inning and struck out one and allowed one hit.

Janson Bourque went 3-for-3 with a RBI and three runs, while Michael Claverie finished 3-for-5 with a RBI and a run scored.

Zach LaFLeur (2-for-4, BB, 2 RBI, 2 RS), Francis (2-for-4 with two doubles, BB, RBI, 2 RS), Mark Fontenot (2-for-4, RBI) and Nick Schexnaider (2-for-5, RBI, 2 RS) were the other multiple hit batters for the Bengals.

LSU Eunice returns home 4 p.m. Wednesday for a doubleheader against LSU Alexandria.
