ZACHARY – The top-ranked Lady Bengals passed the 50-win plateau with a 4-1, 11-3 sweep over Baton Rouge Community College in a doubleheader held Wednesday at Zachary High School.

Maddie Edmonston and Rebecca Skains opened the game with back-to-back home runs before Jeanmarie Angelle singled and scored on Edmonston's hit in the second inning.

Skains hit a solo home run in the fifth to push the Lady Bengals ahead, 4-0.

The Lady Bears avoided the shutout with a run in the bottom of the sixth inning when Taylor Coulon singled and scored on a ground-out by Mackenzie Dark.

Abigail Leonards earned the complete game win in the opener as she struck out six, walked one and allowed just one earned run on two hits.

Skains finished 2-for-4 with two RBI and two runs scored, while Edmonston went 2-for-4 with two RBI and run scored.

Hope Vizinat and Jaci Lavinge went 2-for-3, while Angelle finished 1-for-3 with a run scored.

In the finale, the Lady Bengals scored first when Edmonston doubled and crossed home plate on a single by Darby Bishop.

LSU Eunice then exploded for four runs in the top of the second, begun when Savannah Lejeune was hit by a pitch, Olivia Gabor walked and Edmonston singled to load the bases.
