MARIANNA, Florida – Top-ranked LSU Eunice scored a run in the top of the eighth inning but that would not be enough as the Bengals fell 2-1 at Chipola College Friday night.

The NJCAA Division I Indians (39-14) moved ahead 1-0 in the bottom of the second inning on Reynaldo Rivera's solo home run.

Reese Cooley hit another home run in the bottom of the sixth inning to give Chipola a two-run advantage.

The Bengals (48-4) close the gap to 2-1 in the top of the eighth inning when Michael Claverie singled and scored on a wild pitch.

Erin Baldwin (10-1) suffered his first loss of the season as he struck out four, walked two and allowed two earned runs on seven hits over seven innings of work.

Claverie went 2-for-3 with a run scored, while Nick Coomes finished 1-for-3 with a walk as the Bengals were limited to three hits.

LSU Eunice will face No. 8 St. John's River Community College (39-11)  and Gulf Coast State College (38-12)  in a doubleheader Saturday to conclude the regular season.
