MONROE – LSU Eunice improved to 24-5 on the season as the Bengals cruised to a 16-1 win over Mississippi Delta Community College to conclude Friday's doubleheader at UL Monroe.
 
The Bengals jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the top of the first inning, begun when Braden Comeaux (Barbe) singled and scored on a hit by Brent Hebert (Cypress Ranch).
 
Michael Claverie (Live Oak) singled and crossed home plate on a hit by Joe Faulk (Notre Dame), while Hebert scored on a hit by Jacob Richard (Teurlings Catholic)to push LSUE further ahead.
 
The Trojans scored its only run of the game in the bottom of the fourth when Nathan Pilutti tripled and advanced on Peyton Lane's double.
 
LSUE exploded for six runs in the top of the fourth, begun when Austin Kirkpatrick (Teurlings Catholic) doubled, advanced on a fielder's choice and scored on a hit by Comeaux.
 
Bourgeois reached on a fielder's choice and scored on a hit by Micah McHugh (Zachary), while Comeaux scored as Hebert also reached on a fielder's choice. Faulk tripled in Hebert and Claverie and then scored on a wild pitch to push the Bengals ahead, 9-1.
 
LSUE put the game away with seven more runs in the top of the seventh, sparked when Kirkpatrick was hit by pitch, Bourgeois walked and Claverie belted a one-out home run
 
McHugh reached on an error, while Brent Hebert and Anthony Forte both walked to load the bases.Johnson then walked to plate McHugh, while Kirkpatrick's free base allowed Hebert to score.
 
Hannum reached on an error that pushed in Forte and Johnson to increase the Bengals' lead to 16-1.
 Ridge Heisler (Mangham) picked up his first win of the season as he struck out four, walked one and allowed one earned run on four hits.

Zach Hester (Vidor) struck out three of the four batters he faced as the Trojans were limited to five hits and left five runners on base.
 
Claverie went 3-for-4 with three RBI, while Comeaux finished 2-for-3 with a RBI and Richard went 2-for-3 with three RBI.
 
LSUE will host TCS Post Grad Academy in a doubleheader at 3 p.m. Wednesday.
