EUNICE, La. – LSU Eunice used a combination of steady offense and defense to secure a 63-61 win over Strength N' Motion Tuesday at the HPRE Center.
The Bengals (4-5) employed a zone defense to keep Strength N' Motion at bay early in the first half, then used their outside offense to jump ahead. Trailing 23-18, LSUE ripped off a 12-0 run on four three-pointers in the final 3:30 of the first half including three trifectas by
Jacques Clark (Alexandria, LA, Tioga HS).
Zakari Hart (Dallas, TX, Pinkston HS) helped spur the run with two crucial blocks, part of a five block night by the freshman.
LSU Eunice held a 30-23 lead at the halftime break.
LSUE would pump its lead to as many as 17 points thanks to a 13-4 run early in the second half.
Brennan Maddox's (Fairview, LA, Fairview HS) three pointer with 10:31 to go would give the Bengals a 56-39 lead. Maddox led the Bengals with 14 points on the night.
Caleb Starks (Lafayette, LA, Lafayette Christian HS) pumped in 12 points to help pace the Bengals offense, while
Kaedrick Williams (Ruston, LA, Lincoln Prep HS) and Hart notched double-doubles. Hart grabbed a team-high 15 rebounds. LSUE held a commanding 51-30 edge on the glass for the night.
LSUE continues a five-game homestand this Saturday, December 1 as the Bengals host Jarvis Christian College JV. Game time from the HPRE Center is set for 6:00PM.
