EUNICE, La. – Basketball has long been considered a game of runs and one spurt unfortunately did LSU Eunice in against Lamar State.  The Bengals went nearly ten minutes without a field goal as Lamar State distanced itself just enough to hold on for a 70-62 inside the HPRE Center.

The Bengals and Seahawks were locked in an early back and forth battle before a cold spell gave Lamar State the advantage.  LSUE did not make a field goal for 9:38 turning a one-point game into a 33-16 Lamar State advantage.
Jakobey Hitchens' (Baton Rouge, LA, Jehovah-Jireh HS) floater with 5:22 before half stopped the drought as LSUE went into the locker rooms down 40-25.

Lamar State used hot shooting from distance, six-of-ten from three-point range, to push ahead past the Bengals.  The Seahawks were led by guards Alex Williams and Darion Chatman scoring 12 points each.

LSUE clawed back after intermission, using a quick 10-2 run to get within seven points, 42-35.  The Bengals, however, couldn't get any closer until
Brennan Maddox's (Fairview, LA, Fairview HS) three pointer with 22 seconds left put LSUE within six points.

Maddox, along with
Kaedrick Williams (Ruston, LA, Lincoln Prep HS), led the Bengals with 14 points each.  Williams recorded a double-double, snatching 11 rebounds.
Dwight Simon (New Orleans, LA, Peabody HS) also tallied a double-double with ten points and 11 rebounds.

The Bengals will hit the road for the first time this season next week with a trip to Southwest Mississippi CC for the Coca-Cola Classic.  LSUE squares off with the host Bears on Monday, November 12 at 7:15PM followed by a Tuesday, November 13 date against Chipola College at 3:00PM.

LSUE returns home on Saturday, November 17 for a doubleheader with Holmes that starts with women's action at 6:00PM.
