Freshmen Pace Offensive Explosion In Rout Of LSUA

EUNICE, La. – LSU Eunice used a 14-hit outburst to cruise past LSU Alexandria JV 16-0 in a seven-inning contest.  The Bengals were led by their rookies, accounting 10 of the team's hits.

LSUE jumped out to a quick 3-0 lead after back-to-back singles allowed Andrew Sheridan to sacrifice a run in.  Tristan Welch followed up two batters later with a run scoring double and Hayden Mixon tacked on the third run of the frame with a RBI single.

Chance Clark and Slate Fuller pushed across another three-run inning in the second.  Clark reached safely with his second bunt single that scored two runs while Slate Fuller doubled home Clark to make it 6-0 LSUE.

The freshman duo combined for six hits, eight RBIs and five runs scored.  The pair combined for four runs in the third with Clark's two run sacrifice bunt and Fuller's two-run home run.

The 8-0 advantage was more than enough for LSU Eunice starter Gage Trahan.  The freshman improved to 3-0 after throwing three no-hit innings, striking out six batters and walking one.  Brian Fairbanks, Oliver Campbell and Nathan Holmes combined to throw the final four innings, allowing just one hit while striking out six.

LSU Eunice secured the mercy-rule win with six runs in the seventh inning.  The Bengals tallied five hits including four consecutive base hits that helped push the lead to 14-0.  Johnny Johnson drove home Sam O'Brien with a triple, followed by a Chance Clark's run scoring double and Andrew Sheridan's RBI single.  Slate Fuller closed the sequence with a single.   Nick Bellina capped off the scoring with a two-run double to score Fuller and Sheridan.

Four Bengals notched multi-hit games including Chance Clark (3), Slate Fuller (3), Johnny Johnson (2) and Nick Bellina (2).  Eight different players also drove in runs on the night.
