Hester Mows Down Apaches In Series Opener

EUNICE, La. – LSU Eunice used another Friday night jewel from Zach Hester to help the Bengals secure a 6-2 win over Tyler JC.  Hester improved to 9-1 on the season, securing his 18th win with LSUE.

The sophomore struck out 11 Apache batters in seven innings of work.  It was Hester's fourth double-digit strike out effort of the season and sixth of his Bengal career.  The recent Samford commit scattered two unearned runs off three hits and one walk while inducing ten fly outs.

LSU Eunice (43-4) lit up the scoreboard in the first inning with a blistering two-out double down the first base line by Mason Templet to score Chance Clark.  Templet enjoyed a perfect 3-for-3 game, driving in three runs.

Brent Hebert helped push the LSUE lead to 3-0 with a towering two-run home run to left center an inning later.  Hebert's charge was the Bengals' ninth home run in the last seven games.

TJC score its only two runs in the fourth after Cade Watson led off by reaching safely after a throwing error.  The Apaches would cut the deficit to 3-2 after John Mike Bounds and Fiver Trimble both brought home runs.

Templet responded an inning later with a bases loaded short fly ball to left field that was misplayed and allowed Chance Clark and Evan Keller to score.  Johnny Johnson ended the scoring in the eighth with a two-out double to plate Keller.

Keller scored three of the team's six runs and posted his fourth multi-hit game of the season.

Jacob Spell secure the win with two innings of scoreless relief, allowing one hit and one walk.

LSU Eunice and Tyler JC will meet for a Saturday doubleheader starting at 1:00PM.  Fan can watch both games on Bengals All-Access.
