EUNICE, La. – LSU Eunice fell to Southern Arkansas Tech 74-71 in a tightly contested game Saturday night inside the HPRE Center. Neither team held larger than a five-point lead until late in the second half.
The Bengals (8-8) found themselves in an eight-point hole late in the game before battling back to a 72-71 score. After a Rocket basket with under a minute to go,
Brennan Maddox's (Fairview, LA, Fairview HS) last second three pointer bounced off to try to push the game to overtime. Maddox would hit a buzzer beating three pointer to end the first half and give LSUE a 37-35 lead at the break.
Caleb Starks (Lafayette, LA, Lafayette Christian HS) led all scorers with 25 points on the night including 3-for-5 from three-point range. Maddox (14 points) and
Kaedrick Williams' (Ruston, LA, Lincoln Prep HS) 11 points were the two other Bengals to record a double digit scoring effort.
LSU Eunice will head out on the road for the final time for non-conference play with a pair of games outside the state. LSUE makes a return trip to Holmes CC on Tuesday, January 8 before heading out to Eastfield College for a Thursday, January 10 date.
