Early Hole Too Much To Overcome At Holmes CC

GOODMAN, Miss. – An early deficit was too much for LSU Eunice to rally from on as Holmes CC delivered a 63-57 setback at Frank Branch Coliseum.

The Bulldogs raced out to a 26-10 lead in the first half only to see the Bengals rally with a 14-0 run.  LSUE's spurt would help the Bengals get within striking range, 31-26, at the half.

LSU Eunice would give Holmes CC a fight in the second half, tying up the game 51-51 with 4:55 left.  Critical baskets and an impressive 13-for-14 showing at the free throw line in the second half would help the Bulldogs squeak out the win.

Brennan Maddox (Fairview, LA, Fairview HS) led the Bengals with 16 points on the night while Holmes countered with Kassim Nicholson's game high 27 points.  Kaedrick Williams (Ruston, LA, Lincoln Prep HS) (10 points) and Jacob Maxwell (Lafayette, LA, Acadiana HS) (10 points) were the two other LSUE players to record double-digit point efforts.

LSU Eunice hits the road again Thursday for a date at Eastfield College.  The Bengals will face-off against the seventh-ranked NJCAA Division III team in the nation with a 2:00PM start from Mesquite, Texas.
