Box Score EUNICE, La. – LSU Eunice men's basketball used a strong second half to push past Southwestern Christian for a comfortable 81-62 victory on Saturday at the HPRE Center. LSUE (2-0) outscored the Rams 47-34 after intermission to secure the 19-point victory.
The second half surged was keyed by
Jonathan Cisse (Grand Coteau, LA, St. Thomas More HS) and
Tyrone Hugue (Mansfield, TX, Lake Ridge HS). The duo each went for double digit points out of the locker rooms, pouring in 11 and 10 points each respectively. Cisse led the Bengals with 17 points on the night, while Hugue chipped in 16.
The first half belonged to
Mamady Djikine (Paris, France, Lee Academy (ME)) as the sophomore scored 11 of his 15 in the first half to help LSUE take a 33-28 edge into the break.
Isaiah Payne (Ville Platte, LA, Pine Prairie HS) (11 points) and
Jevon Berry (Arnaudville, LA, Cecilia HS) (11 points) also recorded double-digit point efforts for LSUE.
McKinley Harris paced the Southwestern Christian effort with a game-high 21 points.
LSUE will continue its season opening homestand on Thursday with a doubleheader against Copiah-Lincoln. The action begins with the women's game at 5:30PM, followed by the men's game at approximately 7:30PM.
