LSUE Falls In Back And Forth Battle At Delgado

WESTWEGO, La. – In a game that featured 12 lead changes and seven ties, a late cold spell delivered the Bengals a heartbreaking 65-64 loss at the Alario Center on Saturday.

Jacob Maxwell's (Lafayette, LA, Acadiana HS) lay-up with 3:37 left in the game gave LSUE its largest lead of the game, 64-60.  The Bengals would go 0-for-5 from the field for the remainder of the game, including two missed free throws.  Kaedrick Williams' (Ruston, LA, Lincoln Prep HS) game winning attempt as time expired fell off the way side to allow Delgado to escape.

The Bengals went toe to toe with the LCCAC leader throughout the game.  Delgado built an 11-point lead in the first half before the Bengals clawed back to make it a 32-28 halftime score.

LSUE would take its first lead since early in the first half when Williams would score a lay-up to make it 47-45 Bengals with 11:47 to go.  Williams shined for LSUE, scoring 16 points and grabbing a career best 20 rebounds.

Brennan Maddox (Fairview, LA, Fairview HS) also provided scoring punch, pouring in 26 points and 10 rebounds to record his first double-double of the season.

Kai Morgan paced the Dolphins with 22 points as the trio of Morgan, Louis Blakes and Troy Nisby scored 56 of the team's 65 points.

LSUE closes out a three game conference road swing on Wednesday, February 20 against Baton Rouge CC.  The Bengals and Bears will be the late game of the two team's doubleheader from the Bonne Sante Wellness Center.
