EUNICE, La. – A career night from Brennan Maddox (Fairview, LA, Fairview HS) was not enough as Delgado CC used hot shooting to get past LSU Eunice, 94-79, on Wednesday inside the HPRE Center.  The setback snapped a four-game win streak for the Bengals (12-11, 2-1 LCCAC).
 
The Dolphins used 12 three pointers to take down the Bengals, including five from Kai Morgan.  The freshman scored 20 of his game-high 33 points in the second half.
 
LSUE trailed 49-29 at the break after a blistering pace by the Dolphins.  Delgado would shoot 18-for-36 (50.0 %) from the floor including seven three-pointers.  The Bengals would fall behind by as many as 23 points in the half.
 
The Bengals tried to rally after intermission, cutting the deficit to nine late in the half.  Brennan Maddox connected on a season's best six three-pointers to keep LSUE in striking distance, finishing with a new career mark of 32 points.    
 
Caleb Starks (Lafayette, LA, Lafayette Christian HS) chipped in 11 points, nine rebounds and five assists while Jacob Maxwell (Lafayette, LA, Acadiana HS) (12 points) and Kaedrick Williams (Ruston, LA, Lincoln Prep HS) (10 points) also added double-digit point efforts.
 
LSUE will aim to bounce back as the Bengals welcome Baton Rouge CC to Eunice on Saturday, February 9.  Tip-off from the HPRE Center is scheduled for 4:00PM, after the women's game.  The doubleheader can be seen live on Bengal All-Access and heard on the Bayou Sports Network.
