Late Rally Falls Short vs. Baton Rouge CC

EUNICE, La. – A late rally from LSU Eunice fell just short as the Bengals dropped a 76-72 decision to Baton Rouge CC on Saturday at the HPRE Center.

Caleb Starks (Lafayette, LA, Lafayette Christian HS) banked home a three pointer with less than ten seconds in the game to pull LSUE within a basket, 74-72.  The three-pointer capped off a furious 14-2 rally to get LSUE in striking distance.  BRCC would break the full court press and put in a lay-up as time expired.

Starks would lead the Bengals with 20 points on the night.

LSUE would fight from behind for the entirety of the game as BRCC came out clicking from distance.  The Bears pushed out a 17-2 lead to start the game behind four three-pointers.   BRCC would shot 10-for-21 from beyond the arc, highlighted by Brendan Vessel's team-high 18 points.

The Bengals would trail 37-25 at the halftime break.

Brennan Maddox (Fairview, LA, Fairview HS) bucketed 18 points on the night thanks to a 12-for-15 performance from the free throw line.  Kaedrick Williams (Ruston, LA, Lincoln Prep HS) grabbed a team's best 11 rebounds.

LSUE will now embark on a three-game road swing beginning Wednesday, February 13 at Southern-Shreveport.  The finale of the doubleheader with the Jaguars is set for a 7:30PM start.
