EUNICE, La. – A pair of complete game efforts helped LSU Eunice push past Coastal Alabama CC-South on Friday at Lady Bengal Field. The Bengals improved to 10-0 at home this season.
Jensen Howell (Alexandria, LA, Holy Savior Menard HS) tossed her sixth complete game in a 6-4 opening win, followed by
Heather Zumo (Baton Rouge, LA, Central HS) going the distance for the third time in a 3-2 victory.
The Bengals will continue their 12-game homestand Tuesday as LSU Eunice welcomes Bossier Parish CC. The doubleheader against the NJCAA Division I 19th-ranked team begins at 12:00PM. Both games can be seen live on Bengals All-Access.
Game 1 vs. Coastal Alabama CC-South – W, 6-4
Mallory Little (Opelousas, LA, Opelousas Catholic HS) snuck a two-out bases loaded single through the infield to score the game winning runs as LSUE takes down Coastal Alabama CC-South, 6-4.
The Bengals loaded the bases on two walks and a single in the fifth inning before Little's base hit.
LSUE pushed out to a 3-0 lead off a
Sara Tate (Bayou Chicot, LA, Pine Prairie HS) two-run double in the second and a bases loaded hit by pitch an inning later. The SunChiefs answered with three runs in the fourth to tie the game and would knot it up in the fifth on a fielder's choice.
Jensen Howell struck out eight batters in her complete game effort. Howell (W, 11-2) gave up four runs, one of them earned, off three hits and four walks. She retired the first ten batters she faced.

Lele Martinez (Scott, LA, Acadiana HS) all produced multi-hit games.
Game 2 vs. Coastal Alabama CC-South – W, 3-2
After giving up a pair of runs to give up the lead, Heather Zumo clamped down to help LSUE secure a 3-2 win and complete the Friday sweep.
The SunChiefs took their first lead of the day after a two-run home run in the second inning. After that homer, Zumo retired 14 of the next 17 batters she faced including sitting down the side in order four times.
Zumo (11-2) finished her third complete game of the year with nine strikeouts and one walk while scattering four hits.
LSUE struck first in the opening inning thanks to a
Madison Monson (Walker, LA, Walker HS) RBI single. Lele Martinez tied the game in the second on a fielder's choice.
Kennedy Smith (Rayne, LA, Notre Dame HS) worked the bases in the fifth inning to score the game winning run. The pinch runner stole second base and would score thanks to a wild throw from catcher and throwing error on the steal attempt at third.
Mallory Little collected two of the team's five hits on the game.
