Bengal Bombs Secure Run-Rule Win At BRCC

BATON ROUGE, La. – LSU Eunice smashed a season's best four home runs to breeze past Baton Rouge CC, 13-1, in seven innings on Monday at Pete Goldsby Field.  The Bengals (36-5) run-ruled the Bears for the fourth time this season out of six games.
 
LSU Eunice received a pair of home runs in the third innings as Jack Merrifield's two-run blast and a solo shot by Slate Fuller helped the Bengals take a controlling 5-1 advantage.
 
The hit parade continued in the seventh inning as LSUE used another pair of homers as part of a seven-run frame.  Evan Keller restarted the power surge with a two-run home run, followed two batters later by another two-run blast by Tristan Welch.  River Town capped the inning with a RBI double to give LSUE a 13-1 lead.
 
The Bengals began the game with RBI singles from Keller and Javier Vaz in the first two innings, respectively.
 
Five different Bengals recorded multi-hit games with Town and Keller reach driving in three runs.  Nick Bellina delivered a double and triple in the game to along with three runs scored.  The Bengals smashed ten extra base hits, including five doubles.
 
Jacob Spell would go the distance for the first time in his LSUE career to improve to 2-0 on the season.  Spell would give up one unearned run off three hits while sitting down four batters.  The sophomore sat down the Bears in order four separate times.
