JACKSONVILLE, Tx. – No. 15 LSU Eunice continued its recent dominance capturing its sixth straight win in a 6-1 victory over Jacksonville College on Tuesday at Jaguars Field. LSUE also concluded its three-game road trip with a perfect record.
"We were really happy with how we had many different players getting involved on the offensive end," LSU Eunice women's head coach said. "The more diverse we can be in the final third will help us continue to become a dangerous side."
The Bengals (8-0-1) were first on the board in the 19th minute as LSUE used a high Jacksonville defensive line to its advantage.
Maddie Sylvester (Opelousas, LA, Opelousas Catholic HS) corralled bad JC pass and feed a wide open
Marcela Ramirez (Conroe, TX, Conroe HS), who beat the Jaguars goalkeeper in the 19th minute.
LSUE would stretch its lead to 3-0 as
Sherice Clarke (Kingston, Jamaica, Wolmer's HS) and
Samaris Alvarado (Houston, TX, Klein Forest HS) combined for each other's goals and assists with under ten minutes until intermission.
Sophomore
Katelyn Knowles (Lufkin, TX, Lufkin HS) jump started the Bengals' attack after half, with 53rd and 58th minute goals for her first brace of the 2019 season. Following Jacksonville's lone goal of the game, Marcela Ramirez answered a minute later with a 60th minute tally off a
Bridgett DeLaSalle (Baton Rouge, LA, Baton Rouge Magnet HS).
LSUE held an opponent under a goal or less for an eighth time this season, currently ranking 15th nationally in goals against average (0.56).
Mariah Scott (San Antonio, TX, Legacy of Educational Excellence HS) and
Ariana Alejo (Elgin, TX, Elgin HS) both played a half in net, with Alejo scooping up six of the team's eight saves.
The Bengals return home for a Friday doubleheader against Ranger College. The action starts at 5:00PM with the women's game at the Bengals Soccer Complex.
