Box Score SHREVEPORT, La. – LSU Eunice continued its strong start to the conference slate as the Bengals cruised past Southern-Shreveport, 73-58, on Saturday at LSUS's Pilot Gym.  The Bengals (14-4) capped off a perfect first week of conference play for the second consecutive season.
 
LSUE found itself in a 21-17 hole late in the first half before rallying with a 12-2 spurt to close the half and take a 29-24 edge into the break.  
Mamady Djikine (Paris, France, Lee Academy (ME)) was a first half catalyst for the Bengals, scoring ten of his 14 points before intermission while also grabbing 11 rebounds for a double-double on the afternoon.
 
Djikine's effort underscored a dominant offensive showing in the paint as LSUE racked up 46 points in the paint.
 
The Bengals would finally push ahead comfortable early in the second half with a 15-4 run to take a 49-34 advantage.  
Jonathan Cisse (Grand Coteau, LA, St. Thomas More HS) would lead that charge with 14 of his game-high 21 points in the second half.  
Jevon Berry (Arnaudville, LA, Cecilia HS) also shined as LSUE pulled away as the sophomore buried a trio of three-pointers, finishing with 12 points.
 
The LSUE defense continued its hot start in conference play, holding the Jaguars to 21-for-58 shooting (29.3%) from the field including 1-for-17 from three-point range.  The Bengals have limited opponents to 1-for-31 shooting from three-point in the first week of LCCAC play.
 
LSU Eunice continues its road swing with a Wednesday date at Delgado CC.  The doubleheader against the Dolphins inside the Williamson Center will conclude with the men's game at 7:30PM.
