Box Score SHREVEPORT, La. – LSU Eunice men's basketball clinched the 2019-2020 Louisiana Community College Athletic Conference (LCCAC) regular season championship in a 78-64 victory over SU-Shreveport on Saturday at Fair Park HS. The Bengals (19-5, 7-1 LCCAC) were tied with the Jaguars for the conference lead coming to the game.
With the victory, LSU Eunice assures at least a share of the regular season title and with the tiebreaker over SU-Shreveport, clinches a berth in next month's Region 23 tournament in Clinton, Miss.
LSUE and SU-Shreveport went back and forth the first 15 minutes of the game, never separated by more than five points. The Jaguars took their final lead of the game, 26-25, before LSUE ripped off an 11-3 to head into the break up 36-29.
Jonathan Cisse (Grand Coteau, LA, St. Thomas More HS) led that spurt with five points in that span.
The Bengals would continue their hot streak after intermission. In the first six minutes of the second half LSUE would see its lead balloon to 20 points, 58-38. Cisse and
Mamady Djikine (Paris, France, Lee Academy (ME)) led that charge with 17 combined points.
Cisse would finish with a game-high 21 points including 16 in the second half. Djikine posted a 14-point night.
Tyrone Hugue (Mansfield, TX, Lake Ridge HS) (11 points) and
Jevon Berry (Arnaudville, LA, Cecilia HS) (11 points) would also tally double-digit point efforts.
LSUE closes out the regular season on Wednesday, February 19 at Delgado. A win would clinch an outright LCCAC title. The men's game closes out the doubleheader at 7:30PM.
