LSUE Women Roar Into Postseason With Delgado Blowout

NEW ORLEANS, La. – LSU Eunice women's basketball capped off another LCCAC regular season championship in style with an emphatic 74-36 victory over Delgado CC on Wednesday inside the Williamson Center.  LSUE (20-6, 9-0 LCCAC) secure its third consecutive unbeaten season in conference play and has run its LCCAC win streak to 28 games, dating back to the 2016-17 season.

LSUE put together arguably one of its most complete quarters of the season to close out the 38-point victory.  The Bengals outscored the Dolphins 17-6 in the final frame, highlighted by holding DCC to just 1-for-17 (5.88%) shooting from the field. An efficient shooting LSUE fired at a 40-percent clip (6-for-15) during that span with Ava Jones (Carencro, LA, Carencro HS) getting six of her 17 points in the quarter.

The Bengals would see their lead soar to 40 points.

The Dolphins put an early scare into LSUE, taking a 9-8 lead late in a back-and-forth first quarter.  The Bengals would finally jump ahead in the second quarter, using a 12-0 run over a seven-minute span to push ahead 26-13.

The Bengals would take a 28-15 edge at halftime, led by nine points from Le'Shenae Stubblefield (Delhi, LA, Delhi HS).  The sophomore would score a game-high 19 points.

LSUE would come out of the locker rooms strong, using runs of 17-4 and 10-0 to bump up their lead to 27 points, 57-30, heading into the fourth quarter.

The Bengals had four separate players score double-digit points, while Miya McKinney (Ville Platte, LA, Ville Platte HS) would grab a game-high 13 rebounds.

LSU Eunice now awaits the Region 23 Tournament on the campus of Mississippi College from March 3-8.  The Bengals will find out their first round opponent after the conclusion of the MACJC State Tournament.
