Box Score EUNICE, La. – LSU Eunice men's basketball got a total team effort to help sink Delgado, 101-62, on Saturday inside the HPRE Center. The Bengals (17-5, 5-1 LCCAC) stayed tied atop the LCCAC standings with the victory.
The Bengals had everything working as LSUE stormed out to a quick first-half lead, taking a 46-25 advantage into halftime.
Michael Smith Jr. (Lafayette, LA, Comeaux HS) led the Bengals with three of his four three-pointers in the first half.
Smith paced a sharp shooting effort for the Bengals from beyond the arc as LSUE netted 12 trifectas, the most this season in a single game.
The onslaught would continue after half as a quick run out of the locker rooms would help LSUE's lead hover more than 30 point the entire half.
Semaj Matthews (New Orleans, LA, Landry-Walker HS) led all scorers in the second half, scoring all 11 of his points after intermission.
The Bengals would see a balanced offensive attack, with 12 players scoring and seven players reaching double-digits.
Jevon Berry (Arnaudville, LA, Cecilia HS) led the team with 15 points on the afternoon.
Jonathan Cisse (Grand Coteau, LA, St. Thomas More HS) (12 points),
Mamady Djikine (Paris, France, Lee Academy (ME)) (10 points),
Tyrone Hugue (Mansfield, TX, Lake Ridge HS) (13 points) and
Isaiah Payne (Ville Platte, LA, Pine Prairie HS) (13 points) also contributed double digit point efforts.
LSUE will close out the home portion of the regular season on Wednesday against BRCC. The team will honor its sophomores before the scheduled 7:30PM tip-off.
