EUNICE, La. – It was another twinbill split between LSU Eunice and Bossier Parish as the two sides wrapped up their four-game series on Thursday at Lady Bengal Field.
LSUE (15-8) saw an early lead slip by in game one, falling 6-2, before rallying to gut out a tough 2-1 victory.
The Bengals were led offensively by a pair of three-hit performances, in Game One by
Gracie King (Winnsboro, LA, Franklin Parish HS) and
Sydnei Simon (Rayne, LA, Notre Dame HS) in the nightcap.
LSU Eunice will hit the road an eight game road swing that begins this Saturday at Alvin CC.
Game 1 vs. Bossier Parish CC – L, 6-2
LSU Eunice let a lead slip late as Bossier Parish scored five unanswered runs to steal a 6-2 decision from the Bengals.
Gracie King helped LSUE take an early lead, singling home a run in the first and driving in
Olivia Hennen (Choudrant, LA, Choudrant HS) on a RBI double in the third. BPCC scored in the top of the third for LSUE to hold a 2-1 advantage.
King was a perfect 3-for-3 with 2 RBIs ,a pair of doubles and a walk.
Rylie Candella (Centerville, LA, Centerville HS) notched the other two hits in the game for the Bengals.
Bossier Parish would strike for two runs off four walks, a sacrifice and an error to take the lead in the fifth inning and chase starting pitcher
Cendall Barton (Elmer, LA, Alexandria Senior HS). A sixth inning solo home run and RBI double from Tuliliau Sosi would push the Cavaliers lead to 6-2.
Game 2 vs. Bossier Parish – W, 2-1
A pair of runs produced by Sydnei Simon was all
Chloe Brouillette (Mansfield, LA, Stanley HS) would need as the freshman would help guide LSU Eunice to a tight 2-1 victory over Bossier Parish CC to close out the four-game series.
Brouillette (4-0) tossed her third complete game of the season as Bossier Parish was limited to four hits while not issuing a walk. The first ten batters of the day went down in order as the Cavaliers only had three runners get in scoring position. The Bengals would work out of a bases loaded jam in the fifth inning to preserve the lead.
Both of LSUE's runs would come in the second inning after
Karli Fontenot (Ville Platte, LA, Sacred Heart-Ville Platte HS) led of the frame with a lead-off opposite field triple. Simon would drive her home on a double that banged off the wall in right center. A pair of Bossier Parish errors would allow Simon to come into score on a bunt attempt from
Paige Luquette (Denham Springs, LA, Denham Springs HS).
Simon would go 3-for-3 in the game with a pair of doubles.
